After Marc Webb's costly THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 failed at the box office last summer, Sony has come to the painful conclusion that it is better for Spidey to go back to the House of Idea's : MARVEL ! Sony and Marvel have therefor come to a unique deal which will allow MARVEL to use the character of their beloved webslinger in their own cinematic universe, while Sony will also keep their end of the distribution. Consequentially, Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 3, which had been postponed initially to 2018, is now wholly cancelled ! As a result of this, Peter Parker will also be recast and Andrew Garfield is out of the picture. While I am sorry to see Garfield go, I feel I am pleasantly surprised that Spider-Man will now appear next year already in CAPTAIN AMERICA 3: CIVIL WAR (even though one might surmise this to be only a cameo appearance as Captain America's main opponent will be none other than Iron Man) and will get his own film in 2017. I am sorry for Marc Webb and all the people involved with his two films, but let's face it, they were NOT better than Sam Raimi's earlier films. And that's a fact! I am very sorry to lose Andrew Garfield, though, but he is by now too old to keep playing a teenage student anyway. Thank you all very much, Andrew Garfield, Marc Webb and all of the rest involved. I am looking forward to seeing Spider-Man join the ranks of the Marvel Cinematic Universe !! EXCELSIOR !! (Courtesy of Stan Lee)
