Agent Carter is a very interesting new addition to the Marvel schedule. Where all the rest plays in our modern day, Agent Carter plays just after the Second World War, after Captain America's first world-saving mission in his first feature film. Agent Carter, played again by Haley Atwell, is asked by Howard Stark to clear his name with regards allegations of treason and weapons dealing with criminals and enemies.
Agent Carter is assisted in this matter by Jarvis, the original butler that Howard Stark (the father of Tony Stark, Iron Man) had in his service. (Jarvis was earlier only heard as a computer voice, which was done by Paul Bettany in the Iron Man films and The Avengers. One may assume this artificial character was based on the original butler now seen in Agent Carter. Paul Bettany will soon however also be seen as the VISION in AVENGERS 2 : AGE OF ULTRON, set to open in May.) MARVEL's AGENT CARTER is a mini-series that will run for 8 episodes and if successful, it will set up a basis for SHIELD as the agency we have already seen in several films.
It is understandable that no super powers will be seen in this show as no superhero was known to exist in that era (at least that we know of). But I look forward to seeing MARVEL build it's world up from the past to the present and I think Haley Atwell will be a great asset to the Marvel Universe.
